Lincolnshire Co-op are pursuing their application for outline planning permission for the Lindongate Development, which is proposed to replace the dated Bus Station and surrounding area with a modern retail and mixed-use development incorporating a brand new Passenger Transport Interchange next to Lincoln Central Railway Station.
Lincoln BIG working in partnership with the City of Lincoln Council and Lincolnshire County Council is carrying out a project to improve the links through to the proposed new development of Lindongate looking at public realm and landscape, signage and street furniture, events, city markets and vacant shop opportunities.

As to this proposed development, some care is needed to preserve the area around Sincil Street and the present pedestrian area. The bus station does need improvement, but please don’t let this area of Lincoln become over-modernised – we see this happening in so many city centres. The Brayford area has been over-developed and the character of the old buildings lost. Visitors come to Lincoln to enjoy the charm of the city – we must not lose it.
[...] The revamp, named the Gateway Project, is the prelude to Lincoln BIG’s plan for the Sincil Street and City Square bus station area, called Lindongate. [...]
